Projects stay on track with our in-house, pre-fabrication capabilities. Let us take on your new installation and necessary repairs or upgrades. We can handle it all: carbon, stainless, aluminum, mig, tig, stick, screw pipe, gas and air lines, steam, compressed air systems, and cooling and waste.

Piping & Mechanical Services

In-House and On-Site Services

Installation operations involve a variety of processes designed to ensure your piping projects run smoothly. This includes selecting and preparing components, joining them together, and accessing them for leaks so that we can deliver the services you need.

It’s important to note that not all pipes present at an industrial facility qualify as process piping. Process piping is distinct from plumbing, and also excludes pipes used for heating, cooling, or power processing. Process piping includes only components used to support industrial applications such as mixing or transporting raw materials or products that require the piping be free of contaminants. We at JDI understand and are capable of meeting your process piping needs.

  • MITER FABRICATION
Our team can cut and fabricate elbows. Miter fabrication is ideal for producing components for piping and tubing systems where pressure drop is not a critical factor.
  • PIPE INSTALLATION
From underground supply to machinery, we can install a variety of piping for your project.
  • PIPE JOINING
From mechanical joints, chemical processes, and product lines, we can do any pipe joining method you need.
  • CHILLED & PROCESS WATER
If you have a chiller system that needs to be connected, replaced, or installed, we have a team that understands the process.
  • CHEMICAL LINES
JDI installs stainless, carbon, PVC, and copper, for whatever your chemical needs are to meet corrosion resistance standards.
  • SUPPLY LINES
If you have a project that needs propress, socket-weld, butt-weld, CPVC piping work, we have the ability to create success for your project.

Piping & Mechanical Projects

Project Overview

We began work with a Pickens County, SC Chemical Processing client in 2020 by working on column and schedule 10 vent replacements, and are now doing larger B-08 PSV Vent conversions from carbon to stainless and replacing pumps.

Project Highlights

  • Our first piping job was for their hydro-test area, providing a high-pressure carbon steel setup for their system to allow them to perform cylinder testing. This success led to pump installations consisting of tying in new pumps to their steam generation system. The original pump had failed, and to get the plant back to efficiency this job was vetted out and given to us based on our prior success and experience. We Installed 200 linear feet of 2” galvanized process piping to replace the old system, and we were also contracted to add new piping for four safety showers with eyewash stations, to maintain safety standards for the plant. The client has enjoyed working with us and has called JDI to provide emergency repairs on their water treatment system’s lines when the need arises.

Project Overview

In 2023 we were asked to erect and build out a 5000 SF pre-engineered metal building to house our electronics client’s new washing treatment system. But before we could begin this job, we had to relocate the client’s chiller system to a new concrete pad that we placed.

We began reinstallation project with our team cutting the old chilled water lines to separate the chiller, and fabricated new cast-iron lines. Prior to our crane’s arrival, we readied the chiller with rigging, and installed the new process piping in its new location to be able to quick connect the system. Once the crane arrived into place, we then lifted the chiller and moved it over within a matter of minutes to its new permanent location. After the rigging team made sure everything was squared and set, the process pipe team then connected the new chilled water pipes to the chiller, completing the work.

The client was able to minimize downtime to just a few hours and was back to producing their components because of our efforts. The plant manager loves our ability to align with the client’s needs and understand the scope of work, and calls us each month to take on new projects.

Maintenance

Concrete Work

Project Overview

Our work with this client began with a handrail installation, which led to additions, renovations, and a full rebuild of the plant after a tornado struck in 2020. During the rebuild, JDI assisted in the clean-up process of the debris and production lines that were destroyed. After clean-up, we were able to get the client back in production in under a month after the devastation they experienced and worked with them through the rebuild process.

JDI continues to have ongoing maintenance project support with the client, assists with capital project needs, and has provided approximately 50,000 manhours to date.

Project Highlights

  • JDI has done two building additions, a high-bay addition, and assembly additions, as well as completing multiple renovation projects, from machining, canteen, HR offices, conference room renovations, and multiple restrooms.
  • JDI’s maintenance assisted in installing machine foundations, machines, and entire assembly line installations.
  • We’ve installed backup generators, multiple designated storm shelters, as well as a demolition waste-water pit that required core drilling, rerouting pipes, and tying back into the wastewater system, as well as taking the above-ground system and placing it completely underground.
  • JDI has placed over 450+ yards of concrete. During the concrete placement, we had to redirect traffic, cut portions of the old concrete and asphalt, and replace everything with 12in thick concrete for the new roadway.
  • We also installed wainscotting around the entire plant’s perimeter and manufacturing walls, totaling 4,000 Linear Feet of material over 32,000 SF.
  • JDI has also created warehouse racking, relocated racking to another facility, and shortened racking from 30ft to 20ft to fit into new spaces so that the client could fit new production lines into their plant.
