Supplemental Textile Maintenance & Millwright Project

Project Overview

This client, a global manufacturer of yarn and textile products, is one of JDI’s top supplemental maintenance clients in the industry. We began working within their operations facility in Upstate, SC with 2-3 people who did facilities maintenance for the buildings and also occasionally did capital service projects.

In 2020, JDI did a warehouse expansion that featured pre-engineered red iron, with a brick façade that housed finished goods, and filled in service gaps such as concrete paths, renovations, and built shipping crates.

Our team was tasked from the beginning with a sole focus of taking care of the client’s yarn product lines and grew the maintenance team upwards to 20 production maintenance technicians on staff, including four electricians and one facilities service crew member. Their work consisted of 10 lines of production, and involved changing colors of the yarn, preventative and service-call based maintenance, mechanical structure maintenance, pneumatics, and facilities electrical work.

Results

Our work didn’t just end in Upstate, SC, however, and we were tasked with machine relocations and installations in Norlina and Burlington, NC. In Burlington, we spent eight weeks installing eight twister machines from Italy, as well as maintenance support to help tie in the new machinery.
