With a population of 70,000 within the city limits and over 400k in the surrounding area, Greenville’s population center is the third-largest in the Carolinas. Greenville is located halfway between Atlanta, Georgia, and Charlotte, North Carolina along Interstate 85. JDI is proud to be many of these companies’ first call when they need a Greenville Mechanical Contractor, and proudly works with the Greenville Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development team.
Textile Capital of the World
The city has long been known for its textile roots and was once labeled “The Textile Capital of the World”. More recently, foreign and domestic companies like Tesla and Michelin have invested heavily in the developed area creating high-wage jobs in the manufacturing, healthcare, and banking industries. Greenville’s mix of industries are a testament to its vibrant economy, and long-standing local major textile manufacturers such as Milliken and Glen Raven still lead in their industry.
Automotive Manufacturing
Where textiles first established a stronghold because of the area’s resources, by the same token, automotive manufacturing has become the number one industry in the Greenville-Spartanburg Metropolitan. In partnership with Clemson University, the International Center for Automotive Research, also known as ICAR, was opened in Greenville due to its existing relationships with numerous automakers. Renowned automaker, BMW, is located in Greer, SC and produces numerous models including the popular X3 and X5. An automobile manufacturer of this size creates jobs far beyond their own plant due to suppliers and complementary industries. JDI Industrial works directly with BMW as well as many of its fellow automotive partners in the Upstate of South Carolina.
