Dual-Pump and Cooling Tower Installation

JDI Industrial Services is given a contract with BorgWarner, one of its dedicated automotive manufacturing clients. This project entails installing two new pumps and piping for one of their industrial chiller systems. The client needs their EVAPCO cooling tower to perform optimally, and JDI’s installation of new pumps and piping does just that.

Our team of process piping experts began the project by disconnecting two existing water pumps from existing pipe system.

We dismount, then lift the retired pumps out of the way. Next, we demolish the concrete pads that will also need replacement.

Then, we disconnect the existing bollard and anchor, and move them to an existing slab in a new location to allow for installation of the reserve pump. The team formed and poured new 24″ x 60″ x 4″ equipment pads to allow for installation of the water pumps.

Following that, we begin the part of the process to install four 6″ 90’s and one 6″ to 4″ reducer to connect existing supply and return lines to the new water pump inside, from the cooling tower outside. JDI cuts out the existing 6″ cooling supply loop before the existing 6″ tee, then disconnects the 2 flanges from above the butterfly valves on pumps 1 and 2.

This part of the process allows us to connect the 6″ tee that did drop down to pump 1 to the butterfly valve above pump 2, and connect to the existing butterfly valve.

JDI runs 100 feet of conduit and wire to power the pumps with the existing power source. We finish the project and make sure the client has regular performance inspections and cleanings for their industrial water chiller system.
