An engineer that has been our client representative since 2020 reached out to JDI to do a millwright and rigging project. Based on our success with originally setting up the facility for them, they knew JDI could do more to help expand their operations.
The project involves moving and placing a new overhead bridge crane and CNC machine for their production expansion. Our team mobilizes and performs the work in-tandem with the logistics company, lifts the machines off the truck trailers, and into the building where we set them.
This new bridge crane and CNC machinery allows the client to meet their clientele’s demands effectively and efficiently.

This project calls for JDI to move five crates into a facility, one of which is a lightweight overhead bridge crane connecting to a saw system.
The millwright team requires a 15k and an 8k forklift to handle the weight; each crate weighs over 8,000 pounds, something that the manufacturer of the machinery couldn’t move for the plant.
The client had two crates come in on two different days, one of which calls for a spreader bar to allow the millwright team to pick up the 32ft wide freight. This crate contains the overhead bridge crane and demands a well-coordinated effort to move without causing damage.
This load and size requires JDI to employ our certified rigger to coordinate and ensure the loads could move safely, which then allows our millwrights to move the crates off the truck and into the facility.
The team must simultaneously take the machines off with the lifts, then move them carefully off at the loading dock.
Next, we place the machinery and the overhead bridge crane on skates that can support their weight. We then skate the machinery across the manufacturer’s floor. Once we move and make one turn for a total journey of 300 ft, the machines set into final placement.
After the millwright team gets the overhead bridge crane and the CNC machinery into place, they begin alignment to get the machinery into the correct position. Once that is done, the team then anchors the machinery and crane.
This millwright project allows the manufacturer to begin their operations and start their fulfillments.
The manufacturer of the machinery originally plans for six truckloads to ship over 3 consecutive days, but the client and JDI are able to get the logistics into just two days. In turn, JDI gives the client 20% back on the entire contract value because of the short timeline.
