NMP Stack Covers - Project Overview

Our manufacturing client had limitations finding a fabrication facility capable of performing the work. JDI has a history with the company on several projects welding smaller stainless steel components. Liking our work, SK Battery’s engineers ask us if we can partner with them for this larger project.

Following this, our fabrication project manager gets detail measurements at their facility. The client, SK Battery, goes through a series of planning sessions with JDI to design a proprietary solution to their problem.

Ultimately, our advanced rigging specialists, fabricators, and mechanical team install the stack covers with zero issues.

NMP Stack Covers - Initial Design & Fabrication Phase

First, the engineers visit our fabrication facility to investigate the quality of JDI’s capability to create the design. The shop drawings are developed to bring their designs into a functional state. They then go through an approval process to make sure everything is accurate.

Our fabrication team creates the plates in-house, and weld them together. We form a pyramid-like shape that will properly cover the stacks.

Lastly, the SK Battery engineering team visits our facility again to inspect and approve the NMP stack covers.

Stack Cover Installation - Rigging, Mechanical & Electrical Phase

Once approval is met, we deliver the structures, and ready them for lifting at the site in Commerce, GA.

JDI’s rigging specialists use a 120-ton crane to reach a 100+ linear foot distance to pick the structures. The objective is 45 feet high, and requires advanced rigging of approximately 1500 lbs. per stack cover. Our rigging specialist rigs the caps for picking, and sets them.

Subsequently, the structural support is set in place, and we make sure the stacks allow the water vapor to enter the reclamation process.

In addition, our electrical team installs a grounding system and lighting rods for each NMP stack.
